DD1000 - Research - Paper Boy

Paper Boy

In 1984 Atari released paperboy, a game whereby the player controlls a paperboy who cycles down the street attempting to deliver papers along his route. the players job is to control the paperboys cycling and to throw the papers sideways to the doors of the subscribers and through the windows of non subscribers.

the final stage was to generate the Spec map from the diffuse map, the spec map i made can be seen below.

the next stage was for me to generate a Uv map and to paint the texture, the generated Map can be seen below.








Next i had to paint my textures over the top of this, the resulting diffuse map can be seen below.

DD1000 - Research - I robot

in 1983 Atari published the first arcade game to use 3D polygon graphics. This game was known as i robot, in it the player controlled a robot who rebelled against big brother, the player had to turn blue sections into red in order to defeat the eye on multiple levels.


DD1000 - Research - Star Trek

In 1982 Sega released a video game based on the "Star trek" BlockBuster, this game was called "Star Trek, Strategic Operations Simulator" and involved the player piloting the starship enterprise and using it to defend "sectors" from invading Klingon ships.


DD1000 - Research - Frogger

in 1981 Konami released "Frogger" a simple game that involved the player controlling a multitude of frogs whom they had to navigate across the screen one at a time. This game remains a symbol of nostalgia for many gamers to this day.

in 1980 possibly one of the most influential video games in history was released by Namco, the game was known as "Pac man", the game has the most brand awareness of any video game among the american public.

in 1979 Atari released "Asteroids" their best selling video game of all time, this game is certainly one of the most well known arcade games of all time.

DD1000 - Research - Space invaders

in 1978 Taito kicked off an era that would be known as the golden age of arcade video games, and they did so y releasing a game that many people know and love. "Space invaders" this simple and yet enthralling defense game is known world wide as one of the most popular arcade games of all time.


DD1000 - research - Space Wars

In 1977 Cinematronics released "Space wars" an early spaceship combat game, and the first vector graphics arcade game, it featured 2 ships controlled by the players, they could maneuver around the screen and shoot at one another.


DD1000 - Research - Breakout

in 1976 Atari released "Breakout" a popular game that still has clones being made even today. this game is one of the most well known examples of arcade games.

The first game made to depict a gun "Gun fight"(Known as western gun in japan) was released in 1975 by Taito, this game was also the first game to use a microprocessor, making it a leap forward in technological use as well as in the fact that it shows a gun.

DD1000 - Research - Basketball

Released by Taito in 1974 "Basketball" was one of the earliest examples of sprite graphics, this means that the moving parts were represented by images in game, this game did not however feature animated sprites.
