DD1000 - Castlevania
In my opinion Castlevania is a game that has stood the test of time well, from the release of the original "Castlevania" in 1986, all the way up to the most recent installment "Castlevania - Lords of shadow".
Castlevania (Original 8Bit)
The earlier of the two is a 2D 8Bit platformer in which the player takes the role of Simon Belmont a descendant of a long ago clan of vampire hunters. in the game the player follows in his families footsteps and takes up the vampire killing business, armed with his signature weapon, "Vampire killer" a whip imbued with the ability to inflict immense harm on creatures of the undead. the player can use the whip to attack enemies or the candles that dot the world, when broken the candles drop hearts (Health bonuses), and powerups to increase Simons aptitude for the slaying of the undead.
In its time the 8 bit art style of this game (Shown above) were quite the top of the market, and although today they are quite outdated, they are not so outdated in a way that makes them look bad, merely in a way that shows their age. the gameplay itself i myself find very enjoyable, and the candles the player can break to gain hearts and bonuses seem to be inspired by the boxes in the game Super Mario Bros released by Nintendo little more than a year before the release of this game.
Castlevania - Lords of shadow
the latter of the two aforementioned games is "Castlevania - Lords of shadow" released in 2010 this is a total Reboot of the original series, and unveils a new story completely seperate from the previous series canon, the game has the player play the part of Gabriel Belmont, a member of the so called brotherhood of knights, a group of warriors dedicated to fighting and killing all manners of unholy creature.
As seen in the picture above the graphics of the Castlevania series have improved vastly in terms of realism. however gameplay-wise i found this newer game to be less enjoyable, maybe its because in a 3D game i personally like to have control over the camera in game. also there are times whereby the game left me wondering what to do next, i had little to no-idea, granted i have not played it all the way through as yet. although that is not to say that the game is not without its greatly earned merits, i find the environments and character arts to be extremely captivating, and an extremely accurate representation of the feeling represented through the feel of the story.

XB1134 - S.D.K Goblin
yesterday in class we were given an assignment, we were to take an S.D.K from on the Polycount forums and create a texture. The S.D.K i chose was "Goblin" by "Mop" the link is here -(http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69806). so far my texture is looking good, i went with a cartoon look and tried to give it a fun feel.
I think the next step is to do the finer details, the cuts and marks on the leather, and the cloth, as well as the smaller blemishes on the skin.
