Cubism
Origins
Cubism was pioneered in the early 20th century by Picasso with his early works such as the portrait of Colonel Daniel Henry Kahnweiler. (shown below)
as you can see the style of cubism mostly consists of breaking up the way the image would usually be drawn and piece it together in a randomized fashion.
Important people
The most notable artists of the cubism movement were, among others, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and Juan Gris. Georges Braque was along with Picasso one of the creators of Cubism, Juan Gris joined the movement later and did some very distinctive cubism work such as 'the guitar' painted in 1918 (shown below).
as you can see here the work of Gris has the same distinctive broken up style as the work by Picasso this style is the marker of the cubism style.
